Chuck Norris backs Mike Huckabee

In 2008 Presidential Elections, Celebrities, off-beat, politics on October 24, 2007 by Editor Z

Mike Huckabee may not have the most campaign funds or the highest poll numbers in the race for the Republican nomination in the 2008 Presidential election (although religious voters seem to be giving him another glance). He does have one thing though. One thing that would make every other GOP contender (and every Democrat for that matter) quiver in fear. Pleading to be spared from his fists of fury. Yes I am talking about the endorsement of karate master and actor, CHUCK NORRIS. The man who it is said that when he does pushups he is not lifing himself up but pushing the earth down.

Norris, a Christian Conservative who writes a column for the conservative news site World Net Daily, praised the former Baptist Minister and Arkansas Governor. Here is a copy of the article posted on Huckabee’s blog:

Mike is a compassionate Christian Conservative. Though solid in his faith and standing for traditional family values, he is not an uncaring extremist. He lives what he believes , and respects others beliefs when they disagree with him, commited to a republic that was founded upon the free exercise of religion.

MY TAKE: All kiding aside, I have always though Huckabee has been overlooked and underestimated by political watchers. He is from the south and is a former baptist Minister (which should attract the religious right), he hearlds a flat tax (which he calls a ‘Fair tax’, and he has an amicable personality. However he does seem to have some liabilities with the far right base including as governor that a few times he raised taxes, he is seen as soft on illegal immigration (in the mold of the Bush/Cheney Administration), and he is not as jacobinical as some on the rabid right would want him to be.
