United Auto workers Union carries out thier first sit-down strike.

1922: USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) is established.

1936: The United Auto Workers (UAW), conducts there first sit down strike in Flint, Michigan.

1942: Michael Nesmith is born.

1945: Monkees member Davy Jones is born.

1946: Musician Patti Smith is born.

1953: First NTSC Color television sets are put out for purchase.

1972: The U.S halts its bombing of North Vietnam.

1977: Serial killer Ted Bundy escapes from a Colorado jail.
