In 1964, the US Surgeon General in a groundbreaking report states that cigarette smoke can cause lung disease.

1912: In Massachusetts the Lawrence textile strikes first begin.

1922: Insulin first used to combat diabetes.

1935: Amelia Earhart completes a first for a woman, when she becomes the
first woman to fly alone from Hawaii to California.

1964: U.S Surgeon General first declares that Cigarette smoke can cause lung disease.

1964: First disco in the United States, opens.
