Monestary Opens Up Its Doors To Guests and Football Diehards This Coming Sunday

In hahahas, off-beat, Religion, Sports on January 29, 2008 by Editor Z

Make sure to bring along your rosary beads when you are on the road and need to stay some place to watch the Super Bowl this coming Sunday in Arizona.

Now the Our Lady of Guadalupe monastery, that is so frequently shut off from the rowdiness of the outside world, is opening its doors to those who are in town but still need a room in which to sleep as well as watch the Superbowl.

This years Superbowl between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots will also be in Phoenix, Arizona, all but ensuring that available Motel and Hotel Rooms will be swapped by football fans, players, and members of the media covering it.

So the Benedictine Nuns who occupy and operate the hallowed yet holy halls of the monastery to those who need a room and a place to lay back and watch the Superbowl. A person seeking a room can get one for a fee of $250. A room for more then one person will cost an additional $50 each.

However despite this unusual gesture a number of rigid rules will remain in place that all visitors must adhere to. No consumption of alchool, no smoking, no rambunctious behavior, and no swearing are amongst them.

MY TAKE: So I take it, that the beer bong competition, the shirtless pudgy guy painting himself in the colors of the team he is rooting for, having condoms right in the drawer of your beside table, and the wet t-shirt contest amongst the nuns is out of the question?

I think this is a generous gesture, especially for those who find themselves traveling across the country that weekend and want a place to stay and watch the game.

However a Superbowl party without alchool, beer, drinking games, boisterous cries of victory, and casual sex is like watching Scarface on network tv. Sure you will get the basics, but with some much of the exclamations of the word f-*ks and so much else cut out,it becomes so obvious that something is missing. get what i am saying?

Digg!

  1. haha i like your take man. i guess the monestary is for those who just like to watch the superbowl though. i’m sure there are plenty of people who have outlived their partying days and would enjoy the comfort of the Gaian supermind or whatever you want to call it on their side.
