Children face higher health risks from radiation released by cellular phones.
(WWLP) – Cell phones emit a form of radiation, and past studies have linked cell phone use to an increased risk of developing brain cancer.
Now new research suggests that youngsters are five times more likely to fall victim to the disease, a result of frequent cell phone use over time.
It’s new data from Swedish researchers.
Baystate Pediatric Oncologist Matt Richardson said there’s no real evidence out there that cell phones cause brain cancer. He told 22News that the technology hasn’t been around long enough to tell, so he offers a piece of advice.
“Use reasonable common sense. Limit use of cell phone both on yourself and your children and if at all possible wear a headset just because we don’t have all the data yet,” said Dr. Richardson.
