Irony Watch: Conservatives Now worried about Media not Questioning a Government with one Party control of Congress and the White House?

In 2008 Presidential Elections, Chattering classes/punditry, media, politics, stupidity on October 23, 2008 by Editor Z

Now unlike many in the blogosphere I am not a big Bill O’Reily basher, but this quote was just too good. This is Bill talking with Fox News Contributors Juan Williams and Mary Katherine Ham. (H/T: Crooks and Liars)-

O’Reilly: My fear is when you have a collision if Obama wins the election where you have a committed left Congress and a committed left President with a committed left media, they all then meld together. I don’t think this is healthy for the country, Juan. You’re going to have a media that is sympathetic to whatever Congress and the President does, no matter what it is and you are going to have very few voices, talk radio, this network, some people, ummm in dissent. I’m getting a little uneasy here.

One party control of Congress and the Presidency and loud news outlets that blindly follow the political leaders of our country not questioning them. Where had he been between the years 2001 and 2007? Remember, we invaded a country without asking any questions, and talk show hosts like him in 2003 deeming those who questioned the War as “Bad Americans”. I think those people were a little worried too and now with over 4,000 dead, we all know we had a right to be.

Blind obedience to power is something people of all political persuasions should be uneasy about. Always question authority, but don’t sit back and pretend that it hasn’t been happening in this country when the Conservative News channel he work for and the conservative and neoconservative politicians whose philosophy you generally support stifle dissent. Yes , Bill in a democracy there is always some dissent, after all the founding of this country as an independent nation free from the boot heel of British colonialism was in itself an act of dissent.
