One Word: Awkward

In Bush/Cheney Administration, off-beat, television, U.S History on December 8, 2008 by Editor Z

It was announced recently that following their exit from the White House George W Bush and Laura Bush will be moving out of their famous Crawford Texas Ranch which they had purchased just prior to his 2000 run for the president (it really wasn’t a ranch though , although George dressed like a cowboy in real life he is actually afraid of horses), and into an affluent neighborhood in Dallas known as Preston’s Hollow.

Now aside from proving the fact the George W Bush’s cowboy persona was little more then political shtick this wouldn’t really be news. But as Crooks and Liars points out their is a strange irony to a President whose term is about to be followed by the inauguration of the first African-American to the Presidency, moving to a neighborhood that had a covenant, an agreement made from around the 1920s and into the 1960s used to prohibit any non-whites from residing in the area unless they were “domestic servants”. Guess George overlooked the details, but then again that is the story of his presidency.
