The Obama Cabinet So Far

A day after President elect Barack Obama formally announced his nominee for the Position of education Secretary, the latest news circulating in the cabinet completion is that former Governor Tom Vilsack (D-IA)will be Obama’s choice for Secretary of Agriculture.

This is a very safe and expected pick. he is a popular former Midwestern Governor who briefly sought the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination himself. In terms of Cabinet Secretary positions, Secretaries of Labor and Transportation are the only cabinet secretaries left, although there are other positions available such as FBI Director, CIA Director, etc.

Here is the Cabinet so Far:

Secretary of State: Sen Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY)

Attorney General: Eric Holder

Defense Secretary: Current U.S Defense Secretary Robert Gates

Treasury Secretary: Tim Geithner

Commerce Secretary: Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM)

Secretary of Health and Human Services: Fmr Senate Majority/Minority Leader Fmr Sen. Tom Daschle (D-SD).

Secretary of Education: Arnie Duncan, Chicago School Chief

Secretary of Homeland Security: Gov. Janet Napalitano (D-AZ)

National Security Advisor: General James Jones

Secretary of Energy: Stephen Chu, 1997 Nobel Prize Laurette

Secretary of Veterans Affairs: General Eric Shinsekki (Ret), former Army chief of Staff.

U.S Ambassador to the United Nations: Susan Rice

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Shaun Donovan

Secretary of the Interior: Sen. Ken Salazar (D-CO)

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator: Lisa Jackson

Secretary of Agriculture: Fmr Gov. Tom Vilsack (D-IA)
